Ready For A Pond You Can Fall In Love With?

Have Questions About What We Do? We Have Answers!

1. What is the difference between a Koi Pond and a Recreation Pond?

A Koi Pond is primarily designed for keeping and viewing koi fish, emphasizing depth, advanced filtration, and predator protection. A Recreation Pond is larger, shallower, and built for swimming and family enjoyment, often utilizing a naturalized plant-based filtration system. Both are beautiful, custom-designed water features.

2. How long does it take to install a new Pondless Waterfall in the League City area?

A standard Pondless Waterfall installation typically takes one to three days, depending on the size, complexity of the rock work, and site access. We handle all phases of the project, from design to the final landscaping blend, ensuring a seamless integration into your outdoor space in League City and surrounding areas.

3. Is a Recreation Pond safe for swimming and what maintenance is required?

Yes, a Recreation Pond is designed for swimming and is completely safe, as it uses natural ecosystem filters and aquatic plants instead of harsh chemicals. Maintenance is low-maintenance, focusing on seasonal cleanouts and ensuring the biological filtration is working efficiently, much like a natural lake environment.

4. What exactly are Fountainscapes, and how are they maintained?

Fountainscapes are small, low-maintenance water features like bubbling urns, basalt columns, or custom rock fountains. Since the water is contained in an underground basin, they require minimal upkeep—mainly adding water to compensate for evaporation and a simple cleaning of the basin a few times a year.

5. How often should my pond be professionally cleaned and why?

We recommend a professional Spring Cleanout once per year to remove accumulated organic debris, sludge, and sediment from the bottom. This essential maintenance prevents water quality issues and algae blooms during the warmer seasons, keeping your ecosystem pond healthy and water clear.

6. What are the common causes of pond leaks and how do you detect them?

The most common causes of pond leaks are issues with the perimeter edge (low points causing water to run over the liner) or liner punctures. Our Leak Detection service uses a systematic approach, starting with checking the edges and plumbing connections before a full liner inspection, to isolate and repair the issue efficiently.

7. Can you install hardscaping features like Patios & Walkways near my new water feature?

Absolutely. We offer comprehensive Patios & Walkways services, including paver and flagstone installation, which are often integrated seamlessly with new water feature projects. This combination creates a unified and highly functional outdoor living space.

8. What is the best way to handle persistent algae problems in my pond?

The best method for algae management is a balanced ecosystem approach, which includes proper filtration, adequate aquatic plants, and beneficial bacteria treatments. Our Algae Control services focus on creating a natural balance to prevent growth, reducing the need for chemical spot treatments.

9. Why should I consider Outdoor Landscape Lighting for my water garden?

Outdoor Landscape Lighting transforms your water feature into a stunning nighttime focal point, increasing both aesthetic appeal and security. Strategically placed lights highlight waterfalls, rocks, and plant life, allowing you to enjoy your investment long after the sun goes down.

10. Do you offer services in the Pearland and Webster areas of Galveston County, TX?

Yes, Brother’s Water Gardens proudly serves the entire Galveston County area and the surrounding communities of South Texas, including League City, Friendswood, Pearland, and Webster. We are your local experts for all water feature and outdoor living needs.
